A few people were asking about the perfect manicure at home. I highly recommend this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SZJO1Jhr4o
It is from Sally Hanson, a Loreal Company. Key highlights include:
- Varnish is the professional name for nail polish.
- Never cut the cuticle. Instead push it back with an orange wood stick or cuticle pusher
- Correct filing techniques.
- Use a buffer if you want to remove extra varnish, especially darker colors or smooth
the top layer of your nail. (Meg this is directed at you!)

You do not need to use the products in the above video, but the information is still relevant. I personally use OPI but then of course, I can shop at the beauty supply house. Maybe we should raffle a shopping trip to the beauty supply house? Any takers?
In the salon we are more cornered about sanitation and serialization. When you getting a professional manicure, insist they use metal equipment from the warmer and a new nail file. A good manicurest uses new files or washes the one you got yesterday. There are some nasty virus that can be picked up at nail salons.
